Thomas’s practice comprises both criminal and civil litigation.
On the criminal side, Thomas has represented clients involved in a wide spectrum of offences including sexual offences, driving offences, immigration offences, customs and excise offences and industrial summons. In particular, Thomas has a strong focus on white-collar crimes (money laundering and bribery offences) and market misconduct investigations. He is also experienced in criminal appeals.
On the civil side, Thomas has a particular focus on company disputes, winding up proceedings and commercial disputes. He also has experience in cases involving personal injuries, land, building management, money lenders and probate. He also has substantial experience in respect of arbitrations conducted under the HKIAC rules. He is frequently instructed to appear in interlocutory proceedings (including seeking urgent injunctive reliefs) and in trials.
Thomas is also experienced in advising and acting for clients before different statutory boards and tribunals for disciplinary matters and appeals.
Before Thomas was called to the Bar in 2019, he obtained his LLB with First Class Honours and PCLL with Distinction from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was then a legal trainee (Barrister) with the Department of Justice in Hong Kong. He also served pupillage with Mr. Anthony Chan (as Mr. Anthony Chan SC then was), Mr. Jonathan Kwan and Mr. Lincoln Cheung.
