Called to the Bar in 2005, Lewis started his legal career in the Civil Litigation Unit of the Department of Justice, representing the HKSAR Government in major public law litigations and appearing as advocate in numerous disciplinary inquiries.  He was Acting Assistant Principal Government Counsel before leaving the Department in 2015.


Since joining the private bar, Lewis has focussed on commercial disputes and land cases concerning laws of trust, building management and adverse possession.  He also advises and represents clients on construction, defamation, personal injuries and other general civil cases.


On administrative law, Lewis is regularly instructed by applicants or respondents in judicial reviews, and by the Director of Legal Aid to advise on the merit of intended/ongoing proceedings.   


Lewis continues to appear in various tribunals as adjudicator, legal adviser or counsel for parties, and is experienced in judgment-writing. He was appointed a Temporary Deputy Registrar of the High Court in August 2024. 


Lewis takes up criminal prosecution and defence work involving regulatory offences.


Lewis is conversant with preparing legal documents in Chinese and fluent in Mandarin.  Outside the practice of law, Lewis serves the community as a past president of Rotary Club and served as a committee member of HKU’s Ricci Hall Old Boys Association.
